Method Statement for Repair of Weld Cracks

Diving activity was carried out by M/s HHA to ascertain the accessibility of weld joint for grinding to
remove the weld cracks. It was found that the location is accessible and the weld joint can be grinded to
remove the cracks.

In view of above; it is proposed that the welding cracks would be removed by grinding the weld crack
locations.

Following are the Steps that would be followed for carrying out the grinding activity:

1. The welding crack location identified during the previous survey by ACFM technique would be
cleaned to remove the Marine growth by Chipping/High Pressure Water Jet.

a. AMES-RA2953-ACFM-LEGS SPUD CAN TO CHORD -REV00

2. The exact location would be re-confirmed by ACFM technique and the location would be marked
by the Air diver in the presence of ACFM Technician.

3. To avoid the crack propagation a hole would be drilled at suitable locations to arrest the crack
propagation and thereafter grinding and ACFM would be done respectively.

4. The first Run of grinding would to done to remove the metal & then ACFM would be done again
to ascertain that the crack is not propagating.

5. After the successful completion of grinding and removal of cracks, M/s ABS representative would
verify the removal of crack at the said location identified during the previous survey.

6. After confirmation from M/s ABS, epoxy painting would be applied to avoid rusting of the
exposed metal surface.

7. Diving activity would be done by Air Diver to place the probe & ACFM would be done by
Certified Technician.

8. M/s HHA would submitting Test Report & Calibration Certificate of ACFM Machine, ACFM
Technician Certificate and ACFM procedures.

9. Suitable Grinding Wheels & Burr tools would be used for carrying out the grinding work.

10. All the above activities shall be supported by Photographs & Video recording by Air Diver. There
would be two-way communication between diving Team & Surface Team.

11. No Metal would be filled by welding after removal of the metal required for removal of weld
cracks.

12. The above shall be carried out in the presence of ABS surveyor.
