A Few Minor Changes to the Core Gameplay

● Victory Rewards: Upon killing each boss, draw item cards equal to the # of players and lay
them out for everyone to see. Agree who will take what. Each player must take one, and only
one of these items. Even players who were not in the boss room, while they do not level up,
will still receive a victory reward item.
● Poison status now damages for 3 HP for 3 turns, rather than 1 HP for 3 turns.
● Curse status now prevents the use of all secondary abilities, even if they are not
combat-related or do not cost hearts.
● Double candles are now handled the same as double numbers in the standard game mode.
● Soma can now equip 2 souls simultaneously.
● Each of the 5 relics now provides a special bonus to its recipient.
● You may now spend 2 hearts per card in order to change equipment after your movement
roll, including during battle. Changing equipment before rolling for movement is still free.
● Healing items may still be used in battle, but must be done prior to your combat roll in order
to save your life. Previously, you could use an item after rolling and seeing that you would be
killed. You may still heal at the end of your turn if you are still alive.
● Alucard now gains a heart for every rolled in combat.

New Additions
● Map Deck: A location card is drawn upon entering each stage, giving the stage unique
conditions, some good, some bad, some pure evil. There are 40 different locations, 7 of which
are exclusive to Stage 1, these Stage 1 locations are meant to give the players a head start at
the beginning of the game, but are optional if you prefer it to be difficult right out of the gate.
See the “Map Deck” section of the manual for more info. The 7 starting locations are the
Castle Courtyard, Castle Entrance, Cave of Skeletons, Clock Tower, Forest, Ghost Ship,
and Sunken City of Poltergeists
● 10 new bosses: Angel Mummy, Arthroverta, Blackmore, Death Dragon, Forgotten One,
Galamoth, Gobanz, Joachim Armster, Leviathan, Maneater
● 2 new Dracula forms: Belmont’s Revenge, and Soma Cruz as Dracula, with special
conditions.
● Classic Mode: No curse, no clock, no items, no reverse movement, no second chances at
events, limited lives. See Classic Mode in the Variants section of the manual for more info. (5
life tokens, crystal is the face of each, the 5 dolls are the backs, indicating that life is spent)
● Lord of the Castle Mode: One player plays as Dracula, against all of the hunter players. See
Lord of the Castle Mode in the Variants section of the manual for more info.
● Morning Sun Difficulty (Beginner): Extra time in each stage, fewer curse cards, enemy stats
do not increase in each stage, some of the most evil events are removed/ignored.
● Despair Difficulty (Very Hard): 12 curse cards, steep increase in enemy HP and ATK.
● Images for optional character mats with special spaces for all cards that can be equipped
simultaneously, and HP, heart, and XP bars along the sides. Included small markers that can
be used on the mats, or normal plastic clips along the bottom and sides will work as well. (The
mats will need to be sized to suit your needs if you are having them printed, as most people
seem to have used different sized cards with their physical copies.)
● Jonathan and Trevor have received major overhauls, will be much more useful now.
Jonathan now has a Dual Crush ability, and the damage and heart cost for most of his attacks
have been adjusted. Trevor/Sypha/Grant function a little differently from before, refer to the
Characters section of the manual for more info.
● A few characters have new abilities/items, included in the New Cards folder. Also, refer to
the Characters section of the manual and the character sheets/mats for updated info for each
character.
● Reference cards - Info on relic bonuses and die results.
● Event Markers - Print 2 of each, these are used to easily differentiate between events on the
board. Place one on the space where the event was drawn, and the other on the card, to the
side of the board.
● 2 additional curse cards
● 1 additional save point token
