Tutorial 3
Last Date of Submission: Feb 4, 2022

1. (a) An inductive reactance of 100 Ω is to be realized using an open circuited section of

50 Ω line at 2 GHz. Calculate the length of the section.
(b) If 10% variation in the reactance is allowed, over what bandwidth will reactance
realization be satisfactory?

2. The radio station Chennai FM 91.9 uses a 3.6m long 50 Ω feeder cable to connect the
output of the transmitter to an antenna of impedance 25+j25 Ω. In order to match the
antenna to the feeder, one of the engineers propose the use of a single shorted stub in
the feeder line. Design the length and location of the stub for the required impedance
match.

3. For the transmission line shown in figure, calculate and sketch the voltage at the load
and generator end for 0< t < 6µs.

4. Redo the above question when the load is an open circuit.
