Chapter 1

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Introduction
The Online Campus Selection System developed for HR Department with including
automate the functioning of HR Department. This system is helpful for HR Department
to make easy student selection process. We can say this system similar to Human
Resource Management System.

The online campus selection software work at college or university. The College invited
to recruiter/company for register in this system and help to get employee easily as per
their qualification and requirements. Other hand college has all the student data
submitted in this system so student can get easily job. The system is a mutual place for
student and company. The online campus selection system helps student to get job and
company to get employee.

We can use Campus Selection system for University and any Companies. It is developed
for smooth working of HR Department. Universities and companies can get benefited
through this system. This Software is fully integrated with Student and Company
Relationship Management and developed in a manner that is easily manageable, time and
cost saving that shows relieving one from manual works. Online Campus Selection
provides automated technical screening, intellectual evaluation, electronic mail
integration to conduct recruitment. This feature’s helps in many ways like saving cost,
time and paper work, this shows the paperless environment, unlimited Custom and
reports.
1.2 Objectives and Necessity

Development of rich web-based Campus Selection System for Universities and any
Companies. Online Campus Selection System is developed for smooth working of Human
Resource Departments. Universities and companies can get benefited through this system.
This Software is fully integrated with Student and Company Relationship Management and
developed in a manner that is easily manageable, time and cost saving that shows relieving
one from manual works. Online Campus Selection provides automated technical screening,
intellectual evaluation, electronic mail integration to conduct recruitment.

1.3 Problem Definition

In an earlier times Online Campus Selection System processes were used to be manual. The
administrator has to refer all the records kept for years ago to simply know the details. This is
very tedious. There are many limitations for the existing systems. In manual campus
placement, all the work done manually so there were many chances of getting errors. The
interface of student and administer is maximum which makes the system time consuming.
Students created and submitted their CVs early in the year, leaving them frozen in time.

1.4 Scope

This system is useful for the college campus recruitment process. The system will be helpful
for training and placement department to shortlist students in advance and prepare students
for placements. The system will be helpful to the students to get a rough idea about their CV.
This system will help students to get an idea of placement process from past reviews.

1.5 Applications

Computer based information system are designed to improve existing system. It has user friendly
interface having quick authenticated access to documents. It provides the facility of maintaining the
details of the students. It will reduce the paper work and utilize the maximum capabilities of the Setup
and organization as well as it will save time and money which are spending in making reports and
collecting data. It can be accessed throughout the organization with proper login provided.
Chapter 2

LITERATURE SURVEY

Campus recruitment is considered to be a significant factor for both the educational


institutions and corporate. The literatures investigated show that there is a mismatch that exist
between the student skills and the industry expectations. There are various factors that
influence a student to attract him or her for a job offered by a company. More than the
technical skills and the subject knowledge, it is the soft sill which is given more weightage
during the campus recruitment process. The industry in order to get good talent from the
campuses should engage themselves with the campuses through internships, curriculum
development, student workshops etc., The studies emphasize the characteristics of campus
recruitment process.

The decision of engineering students in making their first career choice depends
mostly on intrinsic reasons rather than extrinsic reasons (Gokuladas, 2010). In India, the
software services companies are the major campus recruiters. They recruit from all
engineering branches with a perception that a student with logical and problem - solving
ability may be able to do well in this industry. The study conducted reveal that the companies
have to build their image on the campuses to attract good talent. The brand image of the
company is considered as a prime influencing dimension by the non - computer science / IT
students in making their career choice when they have an option of choosing among multiple
companies.

2.1 Literature Review

Earlier recruitment was done manually and it was all at a time-consuming work. Now it is all
possible in a fraction of second. It is all done online without much time consuming. Today's
recruitment applications are designed to do a whole lot more than just reduce paperwork.
They can make a significant contribution to a company's marketing and sales activity.
Campus Recruitment Website provides online help to the users all over the world. Using web
recruitment systems like recruitment websites or jobsites also play a role in simplifying the
recruitment process. Such websites have facilities where prospective candidates can upload
their CV's and apply for jobs suited to them. Such sites also make it possible for recruiters
and companies to post their requirements and view profiles of interested candidates.

Recruitment is done manually. These tasks are time consuming. It may take one
month or long. People around the world cannot apply. Online Recruitment system very
convenient because in the manual system there are lot of difficulties in conducting and
managing a recruitment exam, short listing etc. Campus Management system (CRS) project
which relates to HRMS department will maintain entire recruitment service and provide
services for job vacancies. This website allows companies to post job vacancies with respect
to the subject on which they are looking for employs and job seekers need to log in to their
account with given login and password and check job vacancies. Job seekers can check there
job application status from their account. This project will provide scope for future
development.

PHP supports a large number of major protocols such as POP3, IMAP, and LDAP.
PHP4 added support for Java and distributed object architectures (COM and CORBA),
making development a possibility for the rest time. PHP performs system functions, i.e. from
les on a system it can create, open, read, write, and close them. The other uses of PHP are:
PHP can handle forms, i.e. gather data from les, save data to a le, thru email you can send
data, return data to the user. You add, delete and modify elements within your 5 database thru
PHP. Access cookies variables and set cookies. Using PHP, you can restrict users to access
some pages of your website. It can encrypt data. In order to develop and run PHP Web pages,
three vital components need to be installed on your computer system. Web Server - PHP will
work with virtually all Web Server software, including Microsoft's Internet Information
Server (IIS) but then most often used is freely available Apache Server.

SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT

3.1 Proposed System

A. To Know About Vacancy Details: The recruitment management system helps from the
beginning of the recruitment process. The HR software can be customized as per the need of
the student.  From recording need of a particular resource, all approvals which are required
for filling the vacancy created for that resource, up to making the vacancy live. It generally
works on the email notification and permission that is role based to make sure that the
vacancy can be approved and made live. It can get to know the expenditure occurred by a
company in their recruitment process. With the help of this online campus selection system,
one can get to know the expense that has occurred in the recruitment and it helps in better
decision making.

B. Applicant appeal: The applicant appeal can be created by making the job posting
available on website, intranet and job portals etc. First of all, the necessary information which
an applicant wants to know must be available on websites. By using RMS one can develop a
client-friendly career site which will take the user directly to the main website thus giving the
best experience to the candidate applying for the vacancy. When it comes of employee
referral such software can be of immense help as it makes the information available on the
intranet as well as the company's own website. Those companies which are also dependent on
the recruitment agency for their hiring process can also know about the working and
performance of recruitment agency. A company has to make a preferred list of the
recruitment consultants. The "Online campus selection software“ will send the invite to
only those consultants and they will, in turn, send candidate forward.
3. Selection of the candidate: The recruitment management software will help to make an
efficient system for the selection of candidates. The selection criterion can be fully
customized as per the need of the company. It uses the killer questions to stop inappropriate
candidate applying in the first place. Online testing, verbal reasoning, and numerical tests
help you out to screen out candidates who do not meet the required standard.

4. Joining Process: To get employees joining process is a very important process. One
company can use hiring management system to smoothen the joining process of the
candidate. The software helps to start this procedure before the applicant actually joins in.
The HR portal must have the facility to fill the post-hire forms etc online and integration of
HR portal with recruitment management system allow the data to flow so does not require
data entry or re-entry and potential errors.

5. Management Information: The management information helps to take the best possible
decision based on reports captured with the identification of problems and to measure the
progress, such reports starting from simpler ones to complicated ones can be fetched from the
system. Reports on the same data in different formats can also be received. Report
comparison at the different stage of the recruitment process is done to know the area of
improvement, strength etc. Pivot, excel reports can also be received through such software.

5.1 Conclusion

Our project is only a humble venture to satisfy the needs to manage their project work.
Several user-friendly coding have also adopted. This package shall prove to be a power
package in satisfying all the requirements of the recruitment system. The objective of
software planning in to provide a frame work that enables the manger to make reasonable
estimates made within a limited time frame at the beginning of the web-application project
and should be updated regularly as the project progresses.

5.2 Future Scope

In a nutshell, it can be summarized that the future scop of the project circles around
maintaining information regarding:

 We can give more advance software for Online Campus Selection System Including
more facilities.
 We will host the platform on online servers to make it accessible worldwide.
 Integrate multiple load balancers to distribute the load of the system.
 Create the master and slave database structured to reduce the overload of the database
queries.
 Implement the backup -mechanism for taking backup of codebase and database on
regular basis on different servers.
