What do you Know about the topic

DNA analysis is a highly effective technology for human identification, with applications
in identity testing (crime scene and mass disaster investigations) and parentage
determination. The advancement of forensic DNA technology in other nations is briefly
examined, as well as its potential to improve the Philippine criminal justice system. An
actual criminal case was used to demonstrate the efficacy of forensic DNA testing in
criminal investigations. DNA evidence played a significant part in the case's resolution.

What do you Want to know?

I'm curious. In the Philippines, there is a lot of untapped potential for forensic DNA
technology to help speed up criminal investigations. Medical records at the National
Bureau of Investigations (NBI) and the Philippine National Police (PNP), as well as the
principle of correct sample collection and subsequent laboratory analysis, particularly of
vaginal swabs, should help identify the true criminals in these situations. If all of these
samples were subjected to DNA analysis, the identification of true suspects or the
exclusion of individuals would have surely sped up the criminal investigations into these
incidents.

What did you Learn

I discovered that DNA analysis is a highly effective method for human identification with
evident forensic applications in identity testing (crime scene and mass disaster
investigations) and parentage determination. The potential of forensic DNA technology
to improve the Philippine criminal justice system is briefly examined. An actual criminal
case was used to demonstrate the value of forensic DNA testing in criminal
investigations. DNA evidence played a significant part in the case's resolution. However,
I discovered that the Philippines has yet to accept the routine use of DNA evidence in
criminal prosecutions. The advancement of DNA testing and forensic science in other
countries has given us a unique opportunity to reform our criminal justice system here at
home. Furthermore, the availability of forensic DNA technology in the Philippines
necessitates the modification of current evidence laws to accommodate scientific
breakthroughs, allowing the judiciary to better comprehend the value of physical
evidence in criminal courts.
