We always capitalize proper nouns (names of specific things) in


English. There are many other rules when it comes to capitalization.

We need to capitalize the first letter of every sentence.

• We need to go to school.
• They are going to work.

Also, the names and titles of people.

• This is Mr. Greg.


• Where is Miss Jane?
• Spiderman and Superman are heroes.

Days, months, and holidays.

• Today is Monday.
• Yesterday was Sunday.
• My birthday is in April.
• The best holiday is Christmas.
