SESSIONS REQUIRED FOR ALL: You will need approximately 1 hour to complete these required elements and can do them in any order
that you want. It is critically important that all teachers and professional staff are provided these key updates prior to the start of the
school year. In addition to reviewing key procedures, we will provide information about what is new or revised to support you and your
students.

Personalized Professional Learning (PPL) Time: You may design the remaining time (approximately 1.5 hours) of your tech time
using any combination of the synchronous and asynchronous options (i.e., podcasts, webinars, and badging) provided in this section. You
may also want to work with your grade level/department colleagues if you have common interests/needs. Your principal should have
shared the process for documenting what you completed and how the information will be collected.

Vocabulary Inspiration: Are you looking for a new way to help


students learn academic vocabulary? Check out this Small Group
Digital Frayer Model template from HS History Teacher Amanda
Sandoval. Use the time to edit and create your first activity! Don’t
forget to credit Amanda as inspiration for the activity.

Fun with Frayer: Read this blog post from Caitlin Tucker and
create your own “Get to Know” activity for your students this year.
She provides a template that can easily be adapted to meet your
needs.

Back to School BINGO: Make a copy of this template created


by Lisa Guardino, Carla Dunavan & Mia Gittlen and personalize it
for use with your students. Remember to leave a credit to them
on your final version.

Lumio: SMART Learning Online that we shared last year is now


Lumio by SMART. This platform allows you to create a variety of
interactive activities to engage students. Click here for more
information about training opportunities available to you to grow
your instructional practice.

Get Your Game On! If you are interested in learning more about
gamification and ways to integrate this approach into your
learning, watch this webinar hosted by high school English
teacher, national speaker, and Edrenaline Rush author, John
Meehan. If you watch this one and are interested in participating

TedTalks: Whether you need inspiration or want to learn from


thought leaders on a wide variety of topics related to your practice
and students, there is a TedTalk for you. Click here for a few
suggestions of long and short duration.

EdWeb: This is a free online community for educators that offers


webinars on a wide variety of topics across many different
disciplines. Explore their catalog to see if one appeals to you.
Most are typically one hour. Click here to see how edWeb
webinars can be used for Act 48 credit.

Future Ready: The Alliance for Excellence offers a variety of


resources including free webinar access. Search for one that
appeals to you the most or click here for a few suggestions. Most
are 30 minutes in length.
HyperDocs: You can create a free account and take advantage
of their free courses based on your familiarity with HyperDocs. If
you are ready to make your own, go right to their free templates
and begin planning a lesson/project!

Professional Development Podcast: Whether you have a list of


podcasts you have been saving for a rainy day or need some
ideas, this is your chance to be a listener and reflect in order to
grow. Click here for suggested podcasts.

CASEL CARES: This organization offers a “collection of


high-quality social and emotional (SEL) tools” including weekly
webinars that are approximately 50-55 minutes long. Many of the
recent offerings are geared towards helping people understand
and work through current issues.

Learning for Justice (formerly Teaching Tolerance): offers a


variety of free webinars on topics ranging from race & ethnicity to
bullying to sexual identity. While most are about 1 hour, there is a
range and you can determine the points based on the webinar
you select.

Common Sense Media: Complete the “Teaching Digital


Citizenship” course. You will need an account with Common
Sense (free) and can use this course towards their Common
Sense Educator Program.
