Differences
Unlike your project in the game prototyping course, this course offers less design specifics for how to
build the game and the levels. This is so that you can insert your own artistic vision to the project and
create a game that is unique for your team.

Character Emphasis

TPS games are difficult to establish a sense of character for. This is because the character is only visible
from behind in the game. You will want to come up with a plan to create some sense of identity for the
player. You will of course also see the other characters in the game, but it is often the case that you may
see your opponents at a distance. So, consider ways to see the characters faces in the game.

In Class Exercise
Design a treatment for your game. A treatment is a one to two page written description of the
game that you are planning to make.

Homework
Prepare a team presentation for week 2. Expand upon your treatment to turn it into a design document
(in PowerPoint). Your design should include your character types and the unique weapons they will
carry and an explanation of the aesthetics and mechanics of your game, and be between 14 and 20
slides long.
