Filipino cultures are strong reflections of one’s family behavior how the bringing’s towards
community are the same to the Family relatives and friends, one most common culture and
traditions is “FAMILY THAT PREYS TOGETHER STAYS FOREVER” eating together at a
time. In today’s era at once is disappearing. Why because most kids today prefer to eat in
front of the television or in front of whatever gadgets. And as an OFW, I admit that I
cannot keep up with that culture to my children.

The 'Po' and 'Opo' is also a Filipino trait. But in the modern generation, respect over
parents or elders has disappearing. For young people today, many is losing respect to their
grandparents. Saying Po and Opo is diminishing for most young Filipinos today. They are
then told to be disrespectful to elders.

Praying in the morning, going to church, praying before bedtime, praying before eating and
after eating is customary among the Filipinos. But at the present time they are no longer
able to do so. When they wake up in the morning, they have only one thing on their mind:
"Who texted me?" or “Did someone text?” cell phone is controlling them you can’t see anyone
today without telephones in possession. Before eating they are no longer able to pray
because they think it is just to waist of time or it is not being included in the routine. Before
and going to sleep they could no longer pray because they were so busy in online chat social
media and online games.

Eating at the same time is a culture that I wanted to stay because it is the way to have
time to talk my children to my father and mother but it seems impossible, even if I wanted
it. But to my situation I can’t do so., a simple culture that wants to be followed but the
opportunities are elusive,

Why? like me as an OFW who is far from the family this is the common culture lost
because I am very far from my family until my wife and children have become accustomed
to a frightening result, losing of Filipino culture is a sacrifice that it can be passed on to
next generation for some reason, my children I do not even wanted to happen but it is
necessary because of my status as an OFW it is just one of many other cultures that will
disappear because of the desire to become economically stable to be able to provide better
future of my children. instead, one thing that favorable attribution of modern technology
use as an alternative and practical benefit is virtual family bonding through live chat and
video calls of and conversation in the advance of technology. In bright side effect of
telephone and free communication applications online I used to keep family bonding to be
able to extend parenting online in spite that normal culture is gone it has to change in a
modern way. But for personal Opinion I wish that old tradition should be kept not only for
culture identity but to live life in harmony Guided by Our very own cultures and traditions.
