Language Contrasted with Call Systems
Human Language
 They use their language to produce
on infinite unique sentence as a form
of communication.
 They communicate in many ways.
 It is a true language a system
arbitrary signs which allows us to
convey unlimited interaction.
 It has a form and meaning, which it
has a structure which combines
sounds, gestures, letters, and written
words which when we put together
have a certain significance or
meaning
 It is a very creative language
 Unlimited Displacement
 Human Language differentiates from
other languages in that it enables us
to communicate about events in the
past and future, as well as events
that are either close in front of us or
thousands of miles away.
Primate Call System
 They can’t produce any unique
sentence as a form of communication
 They only communicate with signal
codes
 They have this natural sounds and
gestures produced by all non human
primates.
 Their signals are highly stereotyped
and they convey.
 It has a form and meaning but it
doesn’t have much structure like a
gesture and written words that has a
certain significance or meaning.
 Not that much of creative
 It only has limited displacement.
 Primates have limited quantity of
messages they may send to one
another. Like apes and other animals
have no way of conversing about
their past, conveying their
sentiments, lying to each other, or
talk about dirt to their enemies.
