The Cumbre Vieja volcano, on the Spanish island of La Palma, notably

reduced its activity for a few hours this Monday morning. This was
demonstrated through the images that came live from the place, where it
was possible to observe how the column of smoke that had accompanied
the eruption throughout this last week disappeared.

After a few hours, around noon in Spain, the volcano resumed its activity
and a new column of smoke and lava emissions were observed.

The specialists had already recently warned that it was impossible to

predict which would be the direction this phenomenon would take.
However, the Volcanological Institute of the Canary Islands reported on
Monday morning that the volcanic tremor and strombolian explosive
activity had almost disappeared in the last hours.

Miguel Ángel Morcuende, technical director of the Special Plan for Civil
Protection and Emergency Assistance for Volcanic Risk of the Canary
Islands, affirmed that the volcano did not show "clear activity", which made
it difficult for specialists to make a forecast of how it will evolve.
