The Philippine central bank has approved rules that will strengthen banks as financial frauds surge during
the pandemic. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas stated in a statement that banks and financial institutions
must implement a risk-focused screening process that takes into account the sensitivities of holdings that
may necessitate strict measures. It said that a candidate's background and character, conflicts of interest,
and "propensity to perpetrate fraud or irregularity" must be adequately understood, and that central bank
