GOOD MORNING MY NAME IS BRITANI MORA MENDOZA AND

TODAY I WILL TALK TO YOU ABOUT EATING DISORDERS FIRST

WE WILL START BY:

What are eating disorders?

Eating disorders are serious mental health conditions. They involve serious
problems about how you think about food and eating behavior. You can eat
much less or much more than you need. Eating disorders are medical
conditions.

Some of the types of disorders are:

Nervous Anorexia
Disorder characterized by significant weight loss taking into account what is
considered minimally normal, an intense fear of gaining weight or becoming
obese.

Bulimia nervosa
People with this disorder eat large amounts of food in a short time, something
known as binge eating, feeling that they cannot control it. As a consequence,
they develop compensatory behaviors that seek to minimize weight gain, for
example, they cause vomiting.
Vigorexia
Vigorexia, Adonis Complex or Muscle Dysmorphia, is characterized by an
extreme obsession with increasing muscle mass through intense exercise,
unbalanced diets or vomiting.

Obesity
A disorder characterized by excessive levels of body fat that increase the risk
of health problems.

Causes:
The most common cause of eating problems are due to:

Psychological and emotional health. People with eating disorders can have
psychological and emotional problems that contribute to the disorder. They
may have low self-esteem, perfectionism, impulsive behaviors, and troubled
relationships.

It can also be due to genetics in your family.

As an aid to avoid this type of problem, it is recommended:

Educate and promote healthy eating, without falling into extremes (setting an
example).
Promote moderate physical activity, ideally involving socialization.

Promote the construction of adequate self-esteem.

Eat as a family whenever possible, turning food into a meeting and gathering
point.
