TITICACA ISLANDS WITH OVERNIGHT

UROS - AMANTANI – TAQUILE


This trip start at 7:45 am with the transfer from the office to the port of Titicaca,
where you will take the motor boat and also meet the tour guide, the first stop will be
on the Uros floating islands, twith more than 50 floating islands but we will visit just
two of them, on the first floating island the guide will explain about the people who
live in the floating islands and after you will have some free time to walk around, to
take some pictures and talk with the local families.
Later we will have a 3 hour boat ride to Amantani Island where you will spend the
night with a local family, just in the begening you will meet the families and they will
take you to their houses to have a delicious lunch with them, also they will be in
charge to take you to the meeting point for the optional hike in the afternoon to enjoy
the sunset from the highest point of the island with 4150 m.a.s.l./13600 feet.
In the evening after dinner the families will organize a local party for you and they
will provide you the traditional dress to enjoy the party.
The next day you will have an early breakfast with the family and then, they will take
you to the port of Amantani. Here we start a trip for hour by boat to Taquile island,
people who are very famous because they are considered “the best weavers of Peru”
on the island you will have a beautiful hike,with spectacular view to the lake. Also we
will stop to visit the town square of Taquile, some handicraft shops and see the
weaving, by the way the square is the highest point of the hike 3950 m.a.s.l/12960 feet.
Finally we have choice to visit a local family home, where you will learn a little bit of
Taquile island, it’s people ending the tour again in the port. This is the last point
before we comeback to Puno.
What to take with you:
• Warm clothing and light clothing
• Torch / flashlight
• Sun Hat, Sunglasses, Sunscreen
• Hiking shoes
• Water bottle ( you can buy one also on the islands )
• Money in soles ( very low Exchange rate for dollars )
• Sleeping bag ( Optional )
• Rain jacket / Rain poncho ( rainy season from October to March )
