Scheme: Risk Management & Insurance Coverage for Animals

AIM:
The aim of the scheme is to provide an online platform for undertaking Insurance coverage for
animals.

SCHEME OBJECTIVE:

· To provide protection mechanism to the farmers against any eventual loss of their
animals.

· To demonstrate the benefit of insurance of livestock to the people.

SCHEME OUTLAY & SUBSIDY:

· Subsidy premium for the districts and category of farmers:

ELIGIBILITY:

· The benefit of subsidy will be restricted to a maximum of 5 large animals / 50 small


animals per beneficiary per household.

· The insurance coverage may be availed for a period of 1 year or 3 year as per the
payment of premium.

SOURCE OF FUNDS & CONTRIBUTION:

· Central Sponsored Plan and State Plan.

FINANCAL ASSISTANCE THROUGH DBT:


Financial assistance against the claims made by the farmer shall be provided by the
Insurance Company through DBT mode.
SUPPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT:

· Ear tagging of the identified animal for undertaking insurance coverage.


· Collection of the farmers share and depositing it to the insurance company.
· Facilitating issue of policy document by insurance company.
· Conducting post-mortem of the deceased animal upon receipt of information.
· Issue of Post-Mortem Certificate.
· Facilitation of the insurance claim settlement.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED:

· Identification Proof (Aadhaar Card).


· Health Certificate of the tagged animal.
PROCESS OF APPLICATION:

· Online application in the ServicePlus Portal.


· BVO / Veterinary Officer undertake insurance coverage of the animal.
· BVO tags the animal if not previously tagged and issues Health Certificate.
· Beneficiary deposits the farmers share to the BVO / Veterinary Officer.
· BVO / Veterinary Officer deposit the famers share along with Insurance Schedule to
the CDVO.
· CDVO verifies the documents and deposits the farmers share received in the account
of the insurance company.
· Insurance company generates the policy number against the applicant and intimates
the policy document to the CDVO.
· CDVO uploads the policy documents on the ServicePlus portal.
TRACKING STATUS OF APPLICATION & COMPLAINTS:
1. Status can be tracked online in the ServicePlus Portal.
2. SMS alerts to be provided to beneficiaries.
