As someone who actually drives a manual transmission car every day, let me just say this: either
you want a manual, and love the control that you have over the clutch, or you do not, in which
case this is just a bunch of busy work. While this may be a fascinating and impressive product

Strength and simplicity of a manual with the convenience of an automatic. I can see a similar
appeal for smaller vehicles now that automatics have 10 gears and all the valve / clutch
complexity that goes
I had the idea for this as a teenager in the 1980's. I figured there should be a trigger type
mechanism on the shifter. Kind of like a slot car controller. Pull the trigger in, shift, release.
They owe me millions, millions I tell ya!
 
If they’re going to make an electronic clutch, why not just go the whole way and make the gear
selection electronic, too? Or, why not make the clutch a physical linkage on the shifter, like a
brake handle on a train steam engine or something?
 
This sounds like a hand-clutch with more steps.
 
I had a 68 911 that had the "Sportamatic" transmission, essentially the same thing, touch the
shifter knob and the clutch activates, move it into the next gear and release the shifter, shift
made. The problem I had was every time I rested my hand on the shifter it dropped out of gear!

Why not add a deployable clutch pedal ? Essentially a switch, that drops down from under the
dash when you're in the mood, and end the manual / auto debate forever.
