The Lord Jesus was talking about His Father in Heaven but Mary and Joseph did not
understand what He was saying.
After this the Lord Jesus went back home to Nazareth with Mary and Joseph. In Nazareth,
Jesus continued to grow and was always obedient to His parents. As well as being obedient to
His parents on earth, Jesus was always obedient to God, His Father in Heaven.

Q: Write down the first letter of each word to discover the name of Jesus’
cousin.

Many people followed Jesus’ cousin, John, to hear what he had to say. John preached
to all the people who were in the area around the River Jordan. John told the people
that they needed to repent of all the bad things they had done and to have their sins
forgiven. If the people were truly sorry for what they had done, John baptised them
in the river, as a sign that they wanted to change their lives. John was trying to
prepare the people for the time when Jesus would come.

One day, when John was
baptising people in the River
Jordan, Jesus came along.
John baptised Jesus too.
Jesus did not need to repent
of His sins because He was
the only person who had
never done anything wrong.
In a very special way, God
showed that He was pleased
with His Son.
As John was baptising Jesus the heavens opened. A shape like a dove came down on Jesus’
shoulders and there was a loud voice from Heaven. The voice said “You are My beloved Son; in
You I am well pleased.”
Q: Colour the words, which God said to His Son, the Lord Jesus.

Jesus was very hungry because He hadn’t eaten anything the whole time He was in
the desert. The devil knew that Jesus was hungry and so he tempted Him and tried to
make Him turn stones into bread.
The Key Verse tells us that Jesus was tempted, just like we are, but that He never sinned. Just
like Jesus did, we should always say “no” when we are tempted to do things that are wrong.
Sometimes it is difficult but God can help us.
