Presentation guidelines

Length: 20 mins (15 mins presentation + 5 mins Q&A)

Language: Cantonese, Mandarin, English,

Topic and group:

The group presentation will examine a specific mega-project

Students will be divided into around 8 groups and each group will have 4-5 members. Each
group will work together to prepare a 15-minute presentation on a selected mega-project in
China. In particular, the topic should include and highlight how the mega-project tries to meet
the SDGs (especially the SDGs 6, 7 and 13 of clean water and sanitation, affordable and
clean energy and climate action, respectively). A score will be given to each individual
student (up to 14 pts) based not only on the overall group performance, but also on his or her
contribution to the group project as rated by all group members. Students who are 15 minutes
late or leave the forum early will NOT receive any mark for the attendance (2 pts). Peer
Review Assessment will take 4 pts to ensure group member’s contribution. Entering and
leaving the forum will be strictly controlled by tutors.

The group can be formed by yourself, or by our TA in a random manner after the add-drop
period. Grouping and selected topics will be finalized and announced in Blackboard before 8
Oct 2021 (the 4th Lecture). Each group is required to submit your Powerpoint file to the tutor
right after presentation.

Each group presentation will be assessed and given a score (out of 14) based on the following
marking criteria:
 Appropriate selection of the topic, description of the selected mega-project and
region’s geographical setting and characteristics – 3 pts
 Explanation of the necessities, benefits and drawbacks, and significances of the mega-
project – 5 pts
 Analysis and discussion of SDGs related to the mega-project – 4 pts
 Organization, structure, clarity of group presentation, and time control – 2 pts
