We use the "present perfect" whenever the time in which the action takes place is not relevant or is not
specified.
Instead, we use the "simple past" whenever data about the time or place of the action is requested or
specified.

Exercise 1. Complete the sentences using the correct form of the verbs:
1. I have seen (see) the twins in town last week.
2. You have met (you/ever/meet) her brother.
3. Where have you been (you/be) last week?
4. Have you seen (you/see) Paula?

1. I lost - have lost my wallet. I can't find it anywhere. I looked - have looked
at the bedroom but it wasn't there.
2. I didn't sell - haven't sold my car. I decided - I have decided to keep it.
3. Didn't you finish - haven't you finished your work yet?
4. They went - have gone to New York. They must be having a great time.
5. Selma lived - has lived in Quito for two years
