The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the
Republic of Ecuador congratulates Jean Castex on the
appointment as Prime Minister of the French Republic.
We pledge our further support and look forward to
productive cooperation

France and Ecuador enjoy a historic positive relationship due to the common will to promote
multilateralism in the service of peace, development and the defense of global public goods, including the
fight against climate change and biodiversity. Furthermore, bilateral economic relations are developing
positively with a view to expanding. On the other hand, in matters of security and the fight against drug
trafficking, Ecuador and France understand the importance of strengthening cooperation through police
coordination actions and the European program The PAcCTO (Europe Latin America Technical Assistance
Programme against Transnational Organized Crime), whose The objective is to technically assist the Latin
American States in an effective fight against this problem by strengthening the criminal chain as a whole.
And finally, the Ecuadorian government ratifies the interest and political will of the National Government to
reinforce the operational ties in these areas, especially on the northern Ecuadorian border, as well as in the
fight against corruption, with the help of the French Government.

Currently, the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic has been a priority for all governments in the
world and with the above-mentioned background on the relationship between France and Ecuador, we look
forward to continuing to work together to meet global challenges. For this reason, the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs avails itself of this opportunity to express the desire to meet soon to continue with the consolidation of
economic and social development, through bilateral cooperation.
