Good morning, my name is Erika Carela.

I am a fourth year high school student,

and this time I will tell you about Disneyland.
The best ideas are sometimes born out of boredom. And this is how Walt Disney
was when watching his daughter spin on a merry-go-round, he had the idea of
creating a place where the whole family could have fun, a world where his
characters and settings would come to life. After an investment of 17 million
dollars, that dream came true on July 17, 1955.
It was the first park of its kind built by The Walt Disney Company, and the only
one that was designed and built under the supervision of American producer and
filmmaker Walt Disney.
The next day, the park opened to the general public and its creator went to work.
Walt Disney lived and slept there, making changes, fixing bugs, and his efforts
soon paid off. In seven weeks the park received a million visitors and by the end
of the year it already added another 3.8 million. He is credited with having
"redefined the concept of family vacations."
