QNO 8

As per scenario, Effectiveness of roles and responsibilities in relation to health and safety management s
in the showroom are as follows

 There is no written job description provided by the organization which shows poor commitment
towards health and safety
 There is very limited supervision, instructions, and training in showroom by the organization
 No written training records of workers were maintained by the store manager.
 They are unaware of how to report any issue, defect, or problems to their upper mangers as
there was no clear policy for reporting of incidents in the showroom.
 There was no appropriate responsible person for health and safety issues because according to
scenario, HoS (head of sales) was given the health and safety responsibilities.
 Head of the organization always has superior authority and roles and responsibilities about
health and safety of the workers in the showroom. But the MD of showroom was not serious for
the health and safety of their workers.
 Safe operating procedure was planned by the shift manager but not implemented so the
workers could not understand the SOP of the concerned drivers in the showroom
 Peer pressure was negatively influenced in the organization by the upper managers and sales
groups as they were giving priority to sales only and not on the health and safety of workers
 No worker and upper manager were aware of the roles and responsibilities in case of any
emergency, as according to the given information in the scenario, when the fire alarm case
happened, no one was acknowledged about his roles and responsibility in that situation.
 There was no balance between the sales (profitability) and the safety of the staff members
which shows negative culture as the only concern for the MD and sales supervisor was to focus
on large number of sales. There was lack of commitment towards health and safety shown by
organization.
