This British standard has been prepared by Technid Committee ISW8 Sta.inless sted
tubes -Dzmensions, tolemmes and conventional masses per unit length, and is the
English ianguage version of EN IS0 1127 : 1996, published by the European Committee
for Standardization (CEN). It is identical with IS0 1127 : 1992,prepared by ISO/rC 5,
Ferrous metal pipes and metallic fittings,of the International Organization for
Standardization (BO) with the active participation of the UK.
It supersedes ce- specjficationsin BS 3600 : 1976 which are deleted by amendment.
Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity
from legal obligations.

Foreword
The text of the internationai Standard from Technical
Committee ISO/"C 5, Ferrous metal pipes and metallic
fittings, of the I n t e d o n a i Organization for
Standardization (ISO) has been taken over as an
European Standard by Technical Committee
ECISVTC 29, Steel tubes and fittings for steel tubes,
the secretariat of which is held by UNI.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a
national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, at the latest by October 1996,
and conflicting standards &ali be withdrawn at the
latest by October 1996.
According to the CENKENELEC Internal Regulations,
the national standards organizations of the following
counîries are bound to implement this European
Standard: AwXria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France,
Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg,
Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden,
Switzerland and the United Kmgdom.
