FAMILY LAW SYNOPSIS

IMPACT OF CONVERSION AND APOSTASY

When a person adopts the new religious beliefs of a religion that is different from the
previous one, he is said to have converted in the new religion. Religion is the belief in and
worship of a spiritual power that is the God. In this project the researcher will be dealing with
the impact of conversion and apostasy, that how conversion or apostasy has an effect on an
individual’s life. Conversion and apostasy are interrelated terms. Conversion is the act of
converting from one religion to another by following the believes and rituals, whereas
apostasy is the renunciation of the belief ot set of beliefs.

It’s the individual’s right to follow any religion and practice it. Since the constitution
of India has provided the fundamental right of right to Religion under Article 25, conversion
cannot be claimed as a wrong practice. Conversion act as a valid ground of divorce under the
Hindu law as well as Muslim law.
