Children’s Mental Health Week
It has been great to see that children have been
involved in a number of class-based activities that
focus on their mental well-being. Teachers have
enjoyed spending time with children in different
ways and the children have certainly enjoyed this.
We have undertaken a ‘happiness survey’ this week
just to get a little insight into how children are
feeling. The results are still being collated and I will
continue to ask children to take part, but most
children are telling us that they are happy TODAY and
they are happy MOST DAYS.

During this week especially, please ask your children
about some of the things that they enjoy most about
being at school or when they are with you at home.
We can pick these conversations up with you during
parents evenings later this term.
Celebrations
Big congratulations to Thomas in Year 6 whose hard
work at swimming has paid off recently. He has
recently competed at the Cheshire County Swimming
Championship coming out on top. He is now on to
compete in the North West Regional Championships.
Well done! Also a big well done to Isla, also in Year 6,
who shared her medals with us that she won during
dancing competitions in Greek, Tap and Ballet.
I know there are also a number of footballers who
achieved well at the weekend – well done to you, and

to your parents who braved the winter weather to
support you!
Many children tell their teachers or me about their
achievements, no matter what they are – we are
always happy to hear about these and will often
share as a class or in assemblies. I see nothing wrong
with celebrating these achievements - great for the
individuals and to inspire others.
Collection at the end of the day
I have reminded staff about the importance of a safe
handover at the end of the school day. To help this
hand over, please make yourself fully known when
your child comes to the front of the line. We will
acknowledge your wave and hand your child over. It
can be busy with lots of families all waiting at the
same time. We will hold on to your child if we cannot
see you.
If you are unable to collect your child at the end of
the school day, please call the school as soon as
possible. We will bring them into school and keep
them safe until you can collect. Similarly, if your
collection arrangements change, for example, you
are asking another parent to collect on your behalf, it
is important that we know about this. Please do not
be offended if we question you, it is only to make
sure the children go home safely.
A number of Year 6 children have permission to
walk home by themselves – this is no problem and
we are keen to support their independence. Please
