ISSUES INVOLVED:

UAE is the third Arab country after Egypt (1979) and Jordan (1994) to make such an agreement
with Israel. There were various steps taken b Israel and Arab nation to settle down the dispute
boiling between them. After the independence of Israel, it invaded Arab countries giving rise to
the First Arab-Israeli War. The Israeli captured territory including West Jerusalem which
originally was proposed for a Jewish state. In 1979, Peace Agreements were signed between
Egypt and Israel. The Conflicting nature with Arab nations was then shifted to Israel-Palestine
conflict. The formation of Palestinian National Authority in 1991, succeeded by Oslo Accord,
was to normalise relations between Israel and Palestine. Followed by this, Israeli government
reached Peace accord with Jordan in 1994. The peace agreement with Jordan and Egypt,
however, did not normalise relation with the Arab nation in toto. The case fire incidence that
happened between Israel and Syria and Lebanon lead to disputed relations with Arab League
until mid-2010s. The conflicting issues with Iran against Israel and Arab states fostered the ties
between the Gulf states and Israel.

The Issue of annexation of Jordan valley was solved by the Peace Accord. The Jordan Valley is a
home for both Israelis and Palestinians, having 85% of Palestinian population and 15% of the
Israeli population. The plan of annexation of Jordan valley will separate Palestine from River
Jordan.1

To officially normalise the relations between Israel and United Arab Emirates, the Peace Accord
was signed between them. This will lead to the formation of new friendly relations and
settlement of existing disputes.
