PROTECTION

Many tattoos from all Polynesian cultures often share a

common trait: they include elements representing
protection.
It's easy to understand why: protection was often
needed from enemies and environment, and tattoos,
being a sacred connection to the gods, were the ideal
way to channel protection upon men.

This book contains 28 flash designs of different

protective symbols like tiki, manaia and lizards.
To make the best out of them, they should be modified
and personalized to match the story and taste of each
person: a tattoo can have power if properly designed for
every individual story.

LIZARD

Lizards and geckos are called mo'o or moko.

Gods and minor spirits often appeared to men under the form of lizards.
They are thus seen as powerful creatures who can bring good luck,
communicate to the gods and access the invisible world as well as
bring death and bad omens to unrespectful people.
