SOP for switching RAS and WAS and MLR

1. Turn on pump to be put in service and slowly open bleeder valve to expel any gas
until sludge comes out and close valve. Make sure check valve opens.
2. Both pumps will now be on. Watch the GPM increase.
3. Upon determining the pump to be put in service is pumping correctly, turn off the
pump that is being put out of service. IF the pump will not pump, alert a
Supervisor immediately and refer to step 7.
4. Observe the pump that is running until it stabilizes at the correct GPM.
5. Alert the operator and lab attendant that the pumps are switched and running
correctly.
6. Operator and Lab attendant will monitor the pumps for the rest of the day.
7. If the pump will not pump alert your Supervisor immediately. The following are
some steps to perform to get the pump pumping.
8. Turn the HZ up to 50 and open check valve-the bleeder valve is still open. When
sludge is coming out with no gas or bursts of gas and GPM go up refer to step 3.
