SCOPE OF SERVICE

1. To conduct boiler inspection and issue report on a steam generator of Babcork & Wilcox (B&W
water Tube Boiler) with the following specifications:
a. Type: Single Drum Radiant type
b. Capacity: 705T/H at MCR
c. Design Pressure: 14320kPa (G)
d. Steam Pressure (SH-RH Outlet) : 12990kPa – 3398kPa
e. Steam Temperature: (SH-RH Outlet): 541 oC – 541oC
f. Year of Manufacturer: 1984
g. Drum Safety Valve pressure: 14320kPa
h. SH Safety Valve Pressure: 14320kPa
i. Re-Heater safety Valve Pressure: 4250kPa
j. Drum thickness: 124mm

2. Witness hydrostatic tests on boiler pressure parts (Superheater and Re-heater) at determined
hold points.

3. Visually inspect the following boiler critical components: Steam Drum, Drum Blow down,
Headers (Water and Steam), Burners (Visual), Tubing (Super-heaters, Re-heaters, water-wall,
economizer), Piping (Steam and feed-water), Deaerator and attemperators.

4. Carry out selective nondestructive examination (UT) to evaluate the current condition and
estimate the condition of the inspected components.

5. Carry out selective Magnetic Particle Inspection to check the welded joints.

6. Use dye penetrant testing on selective welded joints.

7. Carry out boiler inspection/review nondestructive inspection reports where applicable within
boiler
a. Metal creep in tubings
b. Metal loss
c. Corrosion
d. Erosion
e. Oxygen pitting
f. Acid attack
g. Mechanical and thermal stresses
h. Nozzles and attachment welds on drum, pipes and tubings.
i. Concentrated Stresses at the major support welds.
j. Steam welds
k. Girth welds
L. Thermal differential areas

8. Conduct drum thickness test.

9. Certify and Issue certificates from approved inspector in line with Nigerian Factory Act 2004 and
ISO 14001:2015 and 45001: 2018
