Reflect on your secondary education, did your school comply with RA 1425?
How effective is the Rizal Law in instilling patriotism among secondary school
students?
Our school comply with RA 1425 and it is effective for many reasons.
Even before secondary, Rizal was already famous because of the good
characteristics he possessed as elementary teachers told to us. During my
secondary, I could strongly consider that Rizal Law is effective in instilling
patriotism because as the law states, this comes with a premise that the life
and works of Rizal should be taught in schools to inspire Filipinos of doing
patriotic actions. Yes, the life of Rizal was taught during my secondary years
that we even recited his poem ‘Sa Aking Mga Kabata’ and we’re able to know
the languages he can spoke and how many ladies he happened to have. We
were also able to know about the execution of GOMBURZA. We were able to
know his good works and sacrifices for the country that despite of the short
funding for the publication of his two novels ‘Noli Me Tangere’ and ‘El
Filiusterismo’ which encourage every Filipino during those times to fight for our
homeland; gave Filipinos the urge to not rely the future of our country to the
filthy colonizers; and awaken the sleeping spirits of the Filipinos for our
country, he managed to publish those two novels.
The life and works of Rizal were truly effective in inspiring us to become
patriotic enough knowing that we, in our generation, hate the colonizers and to
those who will attempt to colonize us nowadays. We now hate being controlled
by any country because if not we have no rights to call ourselves true Filipino
blooded when we will just waste all the efforts of Rizal that fuels among
Filipinos and many other Filipino heroes to seek Philippine independence. Also,
because of his works, sacrifices, and efforts; we were able to adapt the idea of
it’s better to be selfless than to be selfish and the most famous quote ‘one for
all, all for one.’ Finally, Rizal Law also empowers us to put our country and
fellowmen first before ourselves thinking that what is good for the nation
should come first before what is good for ourselves.
