Ritotineias_eo Preface Makeup of this book Questions (this book) - 300 questions: 10 questions x 30, - 75 questions: 5 questions x 15 - 50 questions: 1 passage (including 5 questions) x 10 Answers - Explanations (separate book) © Features of and how to use this book (1) A large number of questions are provided. This book contains a large number of practice questions for those who are going to take the new Japanese-Language Proficiency Test, NI, to master the grammar section of this level. All the necessary grammar points for NI are included here, and the same grammar points can be practiced repeatedly because they appear in different questions multiple times. A shortcut to passing the test would be to try as many quest ns as possible. If you study hard using this book alone, itis possible that you can eventually pass the new NI Test, (2) You can proceed gradually by taking one test at a time. The three types of questions are spit into 10 to 30 tests so you can study and practice just a litte at atime, You can stact wherever you like, but remember to put your seore each time in the score space on the upper right side of the page, and measure your current level. When you are fi shed with all the questions, go back to the first one and try again. It is important not to make the same mistake you made before again (3) Helpful explanations are provided. In the separate book, answers to the questions and explanations (useful tips on how to answer the questions) are provided, but if you do not like studying much, just check the correct answers and read the explanations on just the questions you gave the wrong answers to. If you like studying, try to read the whole parts carefully, including the ones you gave the right answers to but you were not so certain about. You will surely be able t improve your skills ‘greatly by reading the explanations carefully. () Difficult explanations accompany translation. ‘The explanations in the separate book should be easy to understand because for rather difficult explanations, translations are provided in English, Chinese, and Korean. © How to prepare for N1 Grammar In this section, you are to choose the appropriate words to fill in the blanks with. Most of the alternatives are functional words (structural expressions) that must be mastered by N1 students, and are very important because all of them are commonly-used in daily life. They are also helpful for the Reading and Listening sections, so study them hard. ‘This section is made up of a new type of questions in which you are asked to rearrange the words and build sentences correctly. Again, the major points here are functional words and structural expressions. However, only the knowledge of the meanings and usages of those functional words will not enable you to answer the questions here correctly. It is necessary for you to practice building up sentences using all the grammar rules that you have leamed so far. ‘You may feel itis alittle difficult before you get used to this type of questions, but you may later find it thrilling just like when you are trying to figure out a puzzle. You will certainly come to like this type of questions after working on a number of practice questions “There are some blanks in a passage on a certain topic. You need to pick the right words that are appropriate in meaning and grammar, after you understand the general contents of the passage Mostly grammatical elements such as particles, conjunctions, functional words, conclusive expressions, etc. are given for choices in the blanks, and sometimes phrases or sentences are siven When answering these questions, you need to try to grasp the overall meaning of the passage, how itis constructed and developed. Next, you pay attention to more detailed pars, understand the co-relations of each sentence, and then pick the most suitable words from among the choices. It is not easy to do all of these in a short time, so it necessary that you train yourself hard through the practi questions in this book. This will also help you improve your skills for the Reading section.
