Therapeutic Value: Self evaluation, socialization, goal setting

Age of Group and Group Size:

12 - 15 year olds
5 - 20+ participants

Materials Needed: Paper and Pen/Pencil

Description of How to Play or Complete the Activity:

Sit down, relax, take some time and answer the questions. Be truthful and don't rely on
others to help. Your job is to introduce yourself to someone as you were exactly 10
years ago today and tell them a few things about yourself. Now, shift gears and
introduce yourself to the whole group on how you would like to be 10 years in the future.
Remember, this is how you would like to be 10 years from now.

Pitfalls and Precautions:

May have a hard time imagining the future.

May have trouble sharing in a group.
May think someone else's story is better than their own.

Time Travel

Your job is to introduce yourself to someone as you were EXACTLY 10 years ago
TODAY. eg. November 2010, age 15; now it's November 2005, age 5. Tell a few things
about yourself. Any pets? Do you like school? What sports do you play?

Here's a template to go by:

Now shift gears. Now you are going to introduce yourself to the group. Tell them what
you would be like 10 years from now. Remember, this is how you would LIKE TO BE 10
years from now! Are you married? With children? Did you go to school after high
school? What did you graduate with? Are you working on buying your own home?
Have a cottage? How are you with your immediate family? What is your mission in life?
Your drive?

Discussion: Were you in a good or bad frame of mind to go back 10 years ago?
Do you think it's possible to achieve everything you said you would 10 years from now?
