A.1 Peel strength to pressing The peel strength to pressing when a bolt is tested in accordance with the method specified in A.2 is given for references in table A.1, ‘The welded assembly is deemed satisfactory even if the welded part is deformed in the peel test by pressing when the load at the test is not less than the relevant value given in table A.1 Table A.1_ Peel strength to pressing Nominal diameter of screw thread _mm]| 4 | 5 | 6 | 8 | 10 | 12 Peel strength to pressing KN | 1.56 | 2.77 | 4.33 | 6.24 | 11.08 | 11.08 ‘The peel strength to pressing (F) was obtained from the following formula F=Sxnxo Where, S: cross sectional area at the root of one projection for welding ne G cat where £ is basic dimension of projection for welding as given in table 1) 1+ number of projections for welding in one bolt (n = 8) 2 tensile strength of welded part (o = 294 N/mm A.2 Method for peel test by pressing ‘The bolt is welded to the steel sheet given in table A.2, the welded assembly is placed on a spacer as illustrated in figure A.1, compressive load is gradually applied to the end of bolt so that the centre of load coincides with the centre of screw as possible, and the load when the bolt peels off should be measured. When the test steel sheet bends remarkably at a load not exceeding that given in ta: ble A.1, retest should be carried out by using a much thicker steel sheet within the nominal thickness given in table A.2, by increasing the temper grade of sheet, or by shortening the space between inside diameter of spacer and bolt head as much as pos sible.
