This is a complete guide detailing the steps involved, right from creating an ext
partition on your sdcard to getting apps2ext working. Patience is required. This
is for windows. I removed by sdcard and connected it to my laptop using a
sdcard adapter before I started. I suggest you do the same.
The actual apps2ext modules and scripts from here. ( Don’t forget to
thank Kabaldan/Srilax and Goodwin_c whose script has made it so
simple to implement )
SD Card Formatter from here.
Minitool Partition Wizard Home Edition from here.
Copy the contents of the sdcard to your PC. This is required because we
are going to format the card.
Open up SD Card formatter. It should show your sdcard automatically.
Format the card with the options shown in the picture below.
Open up the Minitool Partition wizard and make sure you run the
commands on your sdcard ( very very very important if you don’t want
to lose data on your PC). Delete any existing partition on your sdcard.
Use the create partition option on the left to create 2 primary partitions
on your sdcard as shown below. You will get a warning while creating
your second partition. Don’t worry.
a) Fat32 partition for your data that you copied to your PC earlier
b) Ext2 partition to get apps2sd working. ( you will not need a
partition more than 1GB size )
Once you create partitions on your sdcard, they will look like the picture
below ( my 8GB sdcard ). Just proceed and click on apply.
Done. Your sdcard is ready.
Copy the contents of your sdcard that you copied to your PC back to the
“FAT32” partition of your sdcard. Place the sdcard in your phone.
Copy the apps2ext update zip that you downloaded in step 1 to your
openrecovery/updates folder.
Apply the update file.
Open console in OR and type the following command using keyboard
mkdir /system/sd
Reboot
Step 4 : Finishing
Initial boot, you will not see any difference. Open market and install an
app called “Busybox Installer” by Sterickson ( Metamorph creator ). Run
the program and let it complete.
Reboot
Congrats. You have apps2ext working on your phone. You can check if it is
working using the following ways.
Your phone memory should have gone up. Check in Settings->sd card
Check your /system/sd folder. It will have app, app-private & dalvik-
cache folders inside.
Check the ext partition in your sdcard. It will have the same folders
inside. You can use this excellent tool to access ext partitions in
windows.
