A healthy community continually creates and improves the environment and


expand resources such that the prerequisites for health are provided and all citizens of the
community move toward the broad definition of health. Health is a state of complete physical,
mental, and social wellbeing not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. As such, a healthy
community is one in which all residents have access to a quality education, safe and healthy
homes, adequate employment, transformation, physical activity, and nutrition, in addition to
quality health care. The healthy community is dependent not only upon the genetics of its
residents, but also upon the environment within which those individual live. In its simplest form,
health has been defined as merely the absence of disease and disability.
