Test Construction Rubric

A. Packaging/Test Reproduction (11 pts.)

1. Items are spaced for easy reading (i.e., items are not crowded and sufficient
blank space is present). – 2 pts.
2. Item stems and options are all on the same page, or if necessary for a set of
interpretive items, all items are at least on facing pages. – 2 pts.
3. Correct answers are provided in a fairly random pattern (e.g., not ABCD,
ABCD, etc.) – 2 pts.
4. Items are listed in difficulty order. – 2 pts.
5. Overall presentation is professional (neat, well organized, typed well, etc.). – 3
pts.

B. Test Directions (6 pts.)

1. The directions are stated clearly. (3 pts.)
2. Directions inform students how much each selection item is worth and how to
record responses. (3 pts.)

C. Guidelines for Multiple Choice Test (10 pts.)

D. Relevance of Questions to the Intended Learning Outcomes (8 pts.)

E. Alignment of Questions to the Level of Cognitive Domain (10 pts.)
