This is the Purple Iris,Tennessee’s state flower.IT became the


state flower in 1933.There are many different colored irises,the
state legislature did not pick a specific color.So the Purple Iris is
considered to be the state flower.

The Mockingbird is Tennessee’s state bird,it became the state


bird in 1933.It is known as one of the finest song bird in North
America.It is also known for mimicking other birds,animals,and
people.

The Tulip Poplar is Tennessee’s state tree.It became the state


tree in 1937.The Tulip Poplar can live up to about 200 years,and
are found all over Tennessee.This tree was chosen as Tennessee’s
state tree because early pioneers constructed canoes,houses,and
barns.

This is Tennessee’s flag,it became a state in the United states


on June 1,1796.The name “Tennessee” comes from “Tanasi”, the
name of Cherokee Indian villages.Tennessee’s nickname is “The
Volunteer State”.
