English Speaking Project Dialogue – Celebrities

Pilar: Hello class! Today, we are going to present you our project
about Leonardo di Caprio, his career and why we admire him.

Frederica: Leonardo di Caprio is an American actor, producer and

activist who was born on 11th November 1974 in Los Angeles, where he
still lives, more precisely in the famous neighborhood called Los Feliz.

Pilar: He is an only child and was mainly raised by his mother

after his parents’ divorce. Leonardo started demonstrating his passion
for acting when he was little by performing to his parents and, at the age
of 14, he started doing small appearances in commercials.

Pilar:As Frederica has just said, Leonardo lives in the

neighborhood ‘Los Feliz’ and this is his house.
------------------

Frederica: He made his first appearance in television in 1990 with

the comedy film “Parenthood”. Because of that, he earned a nomination
for the Young Award for Best Young Actor.

Pilar: Leonardo’s appearance in the film “Titanic”, in 1997, turned

his overall image as an actor and it is considered his best performance.
That film received 14 Academy Award nominations and won 11 of
them.

Frederica: Leonardo is also an environmentalist. When he won his

first Oscar in 2016, he dedicated it to the environmental issues, spoke
about the consequences of climate change and warned us ‘not to take
our planet for granted’. He is really dedicated to the awareness of
climate change and to save species all over the world.

Pilar: Leonardo has also done lots of charity work – he has

donated more than a hundred million dollars to charity! And that is why
we admire him! Because of him, we started realizing that we need to
start caring about other people and that we need to be conscious about
helping others, including our so important planet.
