Cinta Dalam Gelas

“Cinta dalam Gelas” is one of the novel Andrea Hirata who wrote Laskar Pelangi
novel. It is second novel dwilogy of Padang Bulan. It tells about social life in melayu. This
novel is begun Ikal who works in his uncle’s coffe shop. When he works he know about
life value.

Andrea tells about the habit of Melayu’s people with philosophy of the way
Melayu’s people drink it. This novel also tells about Enong or Maryamah with her life.
Maryamah is orphan. She is diligent guy. She want to see her mom happy so she married
with Matarom. But in her marriage, she didn’t find happiness. Matarom has another wife
and bad attitude so Maryamah want seperate with Matarom. Maryamah want to share
her hurt. Maryamah join chess champion. It is the man challenge. But Enong join it to
defeat her former husband. But Maryamah don’t know how to play chess. Ikal as
Maryamah’s friend helps her to study the chess. From the beginner till the winner (her
husband) Maryamah win from them. It is also guidance of Karpov the grandmaster of
the chess.

This novel has mild language, so all ages can read it. Andrea describes her setting
and conflict with smooth. So it can make us to read it again.
