Hydrolysis is the reaction of a dissociated salt with water to form an acidic or basic solution.
A salt in solution dissociates into positive and negative ions.
If the ions parent is weak acid or weak base, the ions will tend to hydrolyze with water,
combining with H+ or OH- from water molecules leaving unreacted H+ or OH- as excess
Salts that are derived from the neutralization of a weak acid by a strong base will always
produce salt solutions that are basic.
Salts that are derived from the neutralization of a strong acid by a weak base will always
produce salt solutions that are acidic.

Strong acid will fully dissociate in water, the equilibrium position of strong acid lies far to the
right, pH is lower than 3 and has faster rate of reaction.
Weak acid only dissociates partially in water, the equilibrium position for weak acid lies far to
the left, pH is higher than 3 and has slower rate of reaction.
4.C)
Acidic buffer is prepared by mixing a weak acid and its salt with a strong base.
For example, is by using a mixture of acetic acid and sodium acetate.
Dissolve the acetic acid in about 60% of the volume of water required to obtain the final
solution volume.
Measure the pH of the solution by using Henderson Hasselbach equation.

Strong electrolytes completely ionised in aqueous solution, have high electrical conductivity,
and have more extension of ionisation. Example of strong electrolyte is acid hydrochloric.
Meanwhile a weak electrolyte only partially ionized in aqueous solution, have low electrical
conductivity, have less extension of ionisation. Example for weak electrolyte is acetic acid.
