Question 1. The displacement components in a strained body are:

U=0.01y2z+0.25xyz

V=0.03x2y+0.04x2yz

W=0.25xyz-0.05xyz2

Determine the strain tensor, rotation tensor and angle ofrotation at the point(-1,-2,3).

Question 2. The state of strain at a poitnt is given by

Ɛx =0.01 ; Ɛy =0.03 ; Ɛz =0.05

Ƴxy =0.024 ; Ƴyz =0.016; Ƴxz =0.030

Determine the three principal strain. Also find the direction of the major principal strain.

Question 3. A stress system has three principal stresses σ1= 50Mpa. , σ1= 20Mpa. And σ1= -

10Mpa. Find

The octahedral normal and shear stresses forthis system, and check the answer drawing the

Mohr’s circel.
