Back in the day, the mango trees planted by Tandang Isko had only the same fruit.

It’s small and it’s

called “pahutan”. Sweet when ripe, so the kids love the pahutan.

Many rejoice during the fruiting season, because the old owner is not stingy. Once, a beautiful girl in
Tandang Isko’s manggahan passed by. Tandang Isko’s ripe mangoes offered it voluntarily. To the young
lady’s delight, she planted the pahutan seeds in the field and at the foot of the mountain.

The two seeds sprouted immediately and after a few days it was completely a tree. Tandang Isko was
very surprised to have a mango tree at the border of the farm and at the bottom of the rocky mountain.
The old man had intended to cut down the two trees, but every time he approached, someone seemed
to be whispering …

“DON’T! DON’T KILL ME.”

Also out of regret so he just let the two mango trees grow and grow even more. This will be of great
benefit to the farmers and buffaloes who take refuge there.

Kalabaw often rested on the mango tree in the field, so they had the opportunity to always talk to the
tree.

“The sky fell on me, mango tree. I used to endure the heat at noon, but when you sprouted, you gave
my tired body comfort. So when someone tried to cut you, they were ready. With my sharp horn. “

“Thank you, Kalabaw and I will be defended by you. I have always admired your diligence, diligence and
strength,” the mango said shyly.

Soon, in the frequency of their conversation, the buffalo and the mango tree understood each other.

Meanwhile, there has also been a preference for the mango tree at the foot of the mountain and it is
the “mango pahutan” that is close to where it grows.
During Pahutan’s conception, a farmer carrying a “piko” always took refuge in his shadow and did not
know why the mango loved to stare at the piko.

When the day of flowering and fruiting came, Tandang Isko both smoked and took care of the separate
trees. All the mango trees bore fruit.

When the old man returned to harvest the mango fruits, he was very surprised. The two trees that
separate the majority differ in the shape and size of their fruits. Tandang Isko couldn’t figure out why
that was happening.

Again, the beautiful maiden returns, and …

“Because the large mangoes are the result of an understanding between Kalabaw and Pahutan, it will be
called Manggang Kalabaw. Although their fruits are similar in size to the other tree, they still differ in
shape and size. Because they were conceived from the pickaxe, hence it will be known as Manggang
Piko. “

“Miss, how did you say that thing?”

“BECAUSE I AM THE FAIRY OF FRUITS”, the beauty smiled and suddenly disappeared.

What the fairy said is also repeated by Tandang Isko to those who buy mangoes. But it doesn’t matter
whether it’s pahutan, mango kalabaw or manggang piko as long as they are the same mango:
