Enter God’s Presence with Thanksgiving

In worship we enter the presence of God, becoming more of aware of Him. The presence of
God is viewed as a holy temple in which we enter and fellowship with Him. Surender is the key
that opens the door to enter this presence. Once it is opened, we enter in through thanksgiving.

Psalms 100:4 ‘Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him
and praise his name.’

In giving thanks to God, we focus on His goodness. This is the moment we consider the great
and wonderful things God has done for us and in us. Why is thanksgiving so important?
Thanksgiving opens our hearts to receive from God. If our hearts were a garden,
thanksgiving would be an act of preparing the field so that it can receive the seed of God’s
presence. When we offer thanksgiving to God, it’s like he becomes warm and tender, willing to
draw near to us and bless us!

The Bible has various verses to prove this. Consider the story of the 10 lepers (Luke 17: 11-19).
After they got healed, one of them returned to give thanks. And because of this he received an
additional blessing from Jesus Christ. Even Christ himself, before he multiplied the 2 fish and 5
loaves of bread, we are told that He lifted them up and gave thanks (Mathew 14:13-21). The act
of thanksgiving made room for the miraculous.

Therefore, lets make thanksgiving our lifestyle. Our hearts should be filled with thanksgiving for
all the wonders of God. In this way we will become magnets of the manifest presence of God.
He is ever attracted to him whose heart is overflowing with thankfulness.
