Abstract:

Leaders are constantly searching for ways to improve outcomes in every organisation. The
purpose of this essay is to criticise and improve my leadership abilities, as leadership is
essential for professional development at King Saud University. This essay has reflected by
using Gibb’s cycle on experiences to evaluate my continuing personal and professional
development (CPPD) needs in practice. This essay has actively identified gaps in my abilities
from 2020 to then develop competencies around these gaps by 2021. Examples of these
abilities are interpersonal skills, strategic leadership, change management. Finally, the
report will demonstrate how in accordance with my PDP plan the development of identified
gaps contributes to strategic leadership. This essay showed how the use of reflection and
reflective practice can contribute to the development of effective leadership and useful
skills.
