The table illustrates the percentage of people who are 65 years old and above in Canada, Germany

and the UK over the period shown.


It is clear that the percentage of elderly people in Germany was the highest while the opposite was
true for the proportion in the UK. Furthermore, the population of elderly people is predicted to
increase in three countries between 1988 and 2030.
From 1988 to 2000, the percentage of population aged 65 and above in Canada and Germany
experienced an increase of 5% to 21% and 25% respectively. Meanwhile, the proportion of elderly
people in the UK went up slightly to only 15% in 2000.
By 2030, the percentage of people aged 65 and over is calculated to rise by 5% in the three
countries.Moreover, it is predicted that Germany will have 30% of people who aged 65 and above
and it will be followed by 26% of Canada. In contrast, the United Kingdom will have the least
percentage of the population in this age group in 2030.
