This model describe stress as a response to environmental conditions.

Because Hans Selye defined

stress as the “response of the body to any demand, whether it is caused by, or results in, pleasant or
unpleasant conditions”

General adaptation syndrome (GAS) is the pattern of physical changes the body goes through after being
exposed to stress.

There are three stages of GAS: alarm, resistance, and exhaustion.

The alarm reaction stage is the body’s initial response to stress.

The resistance stage is when your body tries to repair itself after the initial shock of stress.

Prolonged or chronic stress leads to the last stage of exhaustion.

Transactional theory

This theory explain that stress is a product of transaction between a person and their environment and
it viewed person and environment in a dynamic relationship.

Age- The age of the respondents will be included in the study to find out the age that

is often experiencing stress and to prove that the respondents of this study are the college

students.

sex - The sex of the respondents is relevant to this study because it is one of the

standard demographic data as well as the age that may contribute to the study outcome.

Year level- The year level of the respondents will be included to this study because

according to Dobronte (2018), there are clear differences in opinion between respondents
with a different year level so it helps the researchers to differentiate between different sub-

groups so that they will know which year level is most stress during this new normal.
