The rework procedure will allow some wheel halves that normally would be removed from service, to be reworked and return to service, by using an insert (service part), P/N 170-244. Manual, 32-45-70 Inspection: Check all torque lugs that have loose inserts for minimum dimension before rework of any torque Lug is started. If any torque lug is less than 0.668 inch (16.79 mm), discard wheel half. Remove remaining insert 170-206 from the torque Lugs, measure width to determine if it can be reworked. (See Figure 1). Minimum dimension allowed for rework is 0.668 inch (16.97 mm). dw Use insert (service part), P/N 170-244 on reworked wheel half. Rework Rework torque Lug by hand filing to a dimension of 0.672 - 0.668 inch (17.07 - 16.97 mm). 2. Surface treat reworked area per MIL-C-5541. 3. After surface treatment has dried, apply one coat of zinc chromate primer per TT-P-1757 to reworked areas. + Install insert, P/N 170-244, to torque Lugs while the primer is wet. Lay insert over torque lug and tap downward until screw hole in insert and hole in torque lug are aligned.
