Typhoon Odette overwhelmed us and caught us in surprise.

On 16 December 2021, Typhoon Rai

(local name Odette) brought torrential rains, violent winds, landslides, and floods in the
provinces of Negros Occidental most especially in my place, Ilog. It was my first time to
experience this kind of devastating typhoon that took plenty of lives, houses, and livelihoods. As
having been into this situation and experience, I have two realization. First, we must take good
care of our environment. Second, we must have faith in our God.
Our environment is what houses and helps our ecosystem grow and thrive. Without protecting
and taking care of our environment we’re putting so many lives at danger such as animals, plants
and crops, and even our own. All of the ecosystems that make up our environment are deeply
connected. If we don’t take good care of our environment there is a 100 percent possibility that
we will experience again what happened last December 16, 2021 (typhoon Odette).
Through good times and bad times, especially during calamity, we must have strong faith to our
God. We human are very wicked. Often times we think that we can do all things on our own
without God. I believe that if we have strong faith to our God, He will always surely help us.
May this bad experienced will serve us as lessons. To take good care of our environment and to
have faith in God at all times. And May we use the talents and graces that God given to us to
help our brothers and sisters in times of difficulties and troubles.
