Project: EMSS(Employee Management and Scheduling System)
Project Description: Duration: May 2010 – Current
Employee Management and Scheduling System is a PHP based Web application that assists in
maintaining attendance, scheduling shifts and salary generation for the employees.
This web applications provides a versatile and very user friendly interface for the Human
Resource Administrator to perform the tasks such as employee user accounts management,
shift scheduling, leave process, employee attendance monitering/management and salary
generation.
Members login portal enables the employee to securely login to the system and mark
attendance, apply for leave, view scheduled tasks and reports.
Modules are integrated with business rule engine which incorporates rules such as full/partial
attendance depending on login time and work schedule. Employees are provided with complete
schedule information for current month, employees can make leave requests prior to taking
leaves.
 
Development of this project involved the following stages:
 Detailed requirement analysis.
 Development of application using PHP in Eclipse PDT with Zend Debugger.
 Style definitions in separate css file for easy style management.
 Database design and development using MySQL 5.1.
 Database manipulation using PHP MySQLi Api with Prepared Statements to prevent SQL
Injection.
 Use of PhpSortable public class that allows users to select, sort and edit array of
database records with ease.
 Client side User input validation using javascript to save time and bandwidth.
 Use of AJAX XHR to improve user-experience and to decrease bandwidth use.
