Individual Assignment (20%)

INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENTS

1. This individual assignment comprises 15% of your total grade for this module.

2. This assignment contains TWO (2) question, with TOTAL MARKS OF 100.
You must answer ALL the questions.

3. This is an individual-based assignment. You should complete the assignment on your


own and no collusion will be allowed.

4. You are to use the Assignment Cover Sheet provided by the University, which include
the following details: Course Title, Assignment Title, Name and Student Number and
Submission Date.

5. You should type out all your answers in Times New Roman, 12 points, justify with 1.5
line spacing. Non-conformance will affect marks allocated for presentation of the
report.

6. You should print out one (1) hard copy of your answers and submit it to your tutor by
the submission deadline. Each student should only submit one (1) hard copy of the
answers; please do not submit multiple copies.

7. Students should keep a copy of the submitted assignment.

Assignment Question 1

Select an article from the local newspaper that contains descriptive statistical
information/table/analysis. Take a photo of the article and incorporate it in your report.
Interpret the report in your own words and how the information presented is useful for you. In
your report, you should also mention the statistical concept that has been used in the article
(for example, Mean, Median, Mode etc.).
Your report should be between 700 – 800 words.

Singapore is a country with high increase number of tourists every year. Natural attraction
and various tourist site are available in this country. Tourists to Singapore came from various
countries. You have been tasked to analyze the tourist origin (country residence).
Refer to the data set (STB_Tourist_data.xls) and complete the following analysis:

(i) Compile and present the tourist number data in terms of each continent its
countries represent, from YEAR 2002 to YEAR 2012, in table format in your
report.
